Bad dog, no biscuit.
Bad cop, no doughnut.
Bad writers, no paycheck.
You twisted it, transfigured it into something evil and untrue. I shudder to think Terry Goodkind sanctioned this travesty.
Yes, I can see how and why it was changed in order to make it more action-oriented, but it paled next to how it was written in "Wizard's First Rule". Richard had no idea about any of these things. He didn't know about being destined to kill Darken Rahl. He didn't know about being the "true" Seeker until much later in the book, after he figured out how to turn the blade white. And Richard suffered no ill-effects from killing with the sword's magic.
In the book, the characters on the run were of the "we need to stay one step ahead or we'll surely die" mentality, not, "you're an obstacle in my way" school of thought. Kahlan didn't want Richard to know about her being a Confessor, he still has no idea what it entails other than they're an ancient order of women who are sworn to get to the truth no matter the cost (paraphrased).
To say this is not what I imagined it to be is unfair itself. This is not my story, my characters, my world. This is just my imagination being tampered with.
